My Testimony

I was searching for answers looking for truth and trying to figure out why i was here.....I knew who everyone said Jesus was and didn't believe what people around me were saying. So I thought I could find the truth on my own and started to practice Buddhism. I meditated, practice mindfulness and searched for the truth that the Buddha said was inside myself. I wont lie i started to find peace but still felt like something was missing like I was still missing a piece of myself somewhere deep inside.

My mother at the time was a believer and always tried to convince me that Christ was the way. I would argue with her always that i didn't believe. However, one day she got me a book about Buddhist and Christians called Living Buddha Living Christ. The book talked about both Christ and Buddha and told stories of monks converting to Christianity and it started to open my mind to Christ and got me curious. So I started to read the New Testament and something started to happen in my life and in my heart. I was amazed by the stories and testimonies of the lives of the apostles and the man they called Jesus.

I remember specifically reading John 14:06 Jesus said "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". It floored me i couldn't believe that he said such a bold statement. Nothing I had read or heard about my entire life never had been said with so much authority. I started to pray and meditate about Christ. I remember having a deep meditation and starting to sense the presence of something dark. I felt as though there was something sitting with me in the room I was in, It was a dark figure and it made me feel nervous and afraid. It wasn't attacking me but I still felt very uneasy about its presence. I immediately called out to Jesus and asked for protection and the feeling went away. I will never forget that and today I believe it was a dark spirit that was hanging around me.

Soon after I had some experiences that lead me to church. My mother had told me about a church i might like to go to and it was newer and had contemporary worship. I shrugged it off and said I don't need no church. Strangely enough only a few weeks later my boss at the time who wasn't even a believer was talking to me about this church he went to and I couldn't believe it but it was the same church that my mother was telling me about. I thought it was pretty strange and it got me wondering. So one day my mom invited me to church and i finally accepted her invite.

So we went to church and my life has never been the same. I remember listening to the pastor and feeling something inside changing. I remember the pastor saying a prayer and asking if anyone was feeling like they were ready for a change and ready to accept the call to Christ would they raise their hands. Before I knew it my wife and I had our hands up and we were being called to the front with several others who had recently proclaimed their faith. They wanted to pray for us and so we went to the front of the church and we confessed our belief to Christ and asked for forgiveness of our sins and I remember feeling as if a huge weight had been lifted off of me or like I was being shocked from the floor all the way through my body. I even looked around me to see if they had wires or something. It was amazing and it changed me. I believe it was the sin and darkness leaving me and the Holy Spirit filling me with light.

I have never been the same God is doing his work in me to this day and I pray that this testimony fills you with hope and that you too can experience Christ for yourself!
